What is Counselling?
I provide a private and confidential space to gently explore any concerns or difficulties you may be facing at this time. Often a potential client presents with anxiety or distress or simply a felt sense of dissatisfaction with their life, along with a sense of loss of direction and purpose or hope. These feelings can relate to unaddressed experiences from childhood or current relational challenges either within your personal life or professional life or both; or a genuine thirst for a more meaningful sense of life.
Within professional and ethical boundaries I offer genuine warmth and endeavour to respond from a place of curiosity and compassion, so that together we can begin to perceive your current concerns and difficulties with greater understanding. In this way a potential client can begin to have a more compassionate, thoughtful and self-supportive relationship with themselves; thereby, gaining greater clarity and gradually executing changes that enhances their self-worth and sense of well-being.
Since qualifying as an Integrative Counsellor I have undertaken many further workshops and courses, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Workplace Mediation, Adoption issues, Trauma, Critical Incident debriefing, etc. My formative training and subsequent continued professional development equips me to work in (1) a time-focused way with a particular goal, or (2) to provide longer term therapeutic support, working at psychological depth to achieve deeper and lasting change. These two pathways can be discussed at the initial session to ascertain what would best meet your needs at this current time.
